Time Warner Sucks

Off my music norms…

I should have lisetened to Eric.  Since we moved and got a new flat screen tv we wanted to get cable. Got Time Warner with HD and a DVR, was told HD/DVR was free. We got the bill today and we are being charged for it.  So we called them up.  Basically, after being transferred 4 times and alot of rude customer service reps. I canceled my service. Apparently they had no record of them promising free HD/DVR and wouldn’t even take my conformation number from when I ordered it.  My bill was coming total almost $74 a month for cable, the same price DirecTV with HBO, Showtime and 265 other channels I won’t watch. Gretchen and I just wanted basic cable and don’t want to pay $74 a month for it.

I can’t believe a company the size of Time Warner wouldn’t even try to keep me as a customer.  When I was told there was nothing they could do, I told them to cancel my cable. “Ok” she told me, nothing to even try to make a customer happy.

So ya, screw your Time Warner Cable. While I still have their high speed internet, I’m very, very actively looking for a replacement.  But for my and Gretchen’s work we need to have something faster then DSL.  If only the faster and cheaper Verizon FIOS service where more widely available. Though I am looking into their EVDO service.

I still have Time Warner, but only for internet and phone. I would get rid of phone service, but we need an active phone line for our security system and we want a home line for when we are out and a baby sitter is with the kids. Since Nationwide picks up my internet bill, I end up paying $40 a month for unlimited long distance, voicemail, and callerID. I will probably never get TV service with them ever again though.

I’ve had horrible experiences with Time Warner too. I called customer service once because our cable wasn’t working consistently, and was on hold for 29 minutes. I ended up hanging up, and the next time I called, I got through in 13 minutes. If I ever have another option, I’m canceling TW immediately.

Don’t you have WOW in Columbus, cheaper and better from what I can remember. Think we have a plan now to be TW free. DirecTV for cable and actually Verizon Wireless for internet.
Going to be a little more a month for Verizon, but it works on the cell signal and can be taken wherever I want (with a signal). It will work well if I’m on location and need a connection in the field to transmit photos.

I have Direct TV and only pay $49 a month, and that is one or two steps above they’re basic package. Unfortunately that does nothing for your internet needs but I can say that I’ve never had a bad customer service experience with them. When I lived in Cinti I had TW and they were horrible to deal with. I suspected that they had a competition with Kinkos to see who could treat the public worse.

Well, it’s offical. I finally got rid of Time Warner all together, it seems it pays to go directly to their office to complain. Since they never showed up to actually collect the box or turn of the cable we went in with a list of complaints and the box. They said no problem and the internet would be off today (Monday). Our bill? $18. Wow, morons.
AT&T today installed Uverse fiber optics internet. Probably about double the speed that Time Warner’s RoadRunner could offer @ the same price. So far we’re happy with the DirecTv/AT&T combo.
