Well things are lining up for me to be able to shoot Lollapalooza this year.  I’ve been talking to the AOL editorial and photo departments about shooting it for them and they are excited to have me their.  I’ve also been talking to my favorite photo agency , PhotoShelter about representing me this year.  I’ll probably be going through them for both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza from now on.  While they are small and I may not make as much from them in the short term I should be able to make more long term if everything works out, since I get paid 70% from each sale instead of the normal 50% from other agencies.  Besides, Retna took forever to pay for some shots and still owes me for other sales from Roo’ last year..  Not real happy with them at the moment.  Anyway, I’m excited and the line-up is well worth the trip to Chicago.

Problem with buying two albums one day….

April 2nd, 2008 by

….you listen to one more then the other.

So I bought the R.E.M. and the new Raconteurs albums today. I figured the best way to get to know both albums was to throw them on my iPod and go mow the lawn. Great way to get a good listen and get something done at the same time. Besides today might be the only day it doesn’t rain this week and the lawn really needed to be mowed, so much that it stalled several times getting through the crap that grows in North Carolina. Anyway, I got a good listen. R.E.M. was first in the list, and well, damn couldn’t stop listening too it.

Accelerate from R.E.M. is just what I’ve been looking for in right now. Something a little loud, lots of guitar, rocking and fun. Makes you get up and move around, maybe the perfect cure for cold weather and getting ready for spring. The Athens, GA band has a hit in the making. I haven’t listened to much from them since Automatic for the People, the slow, beautiful, wonderful album of 1992. This is not that album, but it harks back to Green and Monster that rock and everyone dances their head off too. I have to say I was singing along the 2nd time through, always a great sign.

Lawnmowing Rating….I give it 4 1/2 lawnmowers out of 5….I need to make little icons, what a great idea, stay tuned.

Raconteurs’ Consolers Of The Lonely. Once I finally got to it after listening to Accelerate twice. Damn, sweet Jack White and a full sound backing him, also with others that can sing a melody with him. The White Stripes are one thing. But with 2 people there is only so much you can do. And I damn well love them for it. The Raconteurs take the full sound to a level The White Stripes don’t do, similar blues sound in some of the songs (did I hear banjo and fiddle in some of those songs….sweetness). Jack White’s vocals also are unmistakable and great. Of and damn sweet website. Can’t wait for them at Bonnaroo.

Lawnmowing Rating….I give it 4 lawnmowers out of 5

Seems as though 2008 could turn out to be a good one as well. Though it’s hard to live up the the releases of 2007. But if you go by the Grammy calendar, The new Radiohead is included in 2008.
