10 Days. Radiohead’s new album hit the stores (well their online store only) and it’s called In Rainbows. Although of many reports that news of their new album was a hoax, their website, radiohead.com and their blog, Dead Air Space, has links to buy the new album. I’ll probably preorder the album as they have quickly become one my favorite bands. Live and in studio they have some of the strongest performances

In an interesting turn is how the album is sold. From the In Rainbows website there are two ways to buy the album:

Download price is “Up to you” meaning you set the price, I would guess to make you think about what the music is worth to you. Interesting concept that could only be thought of by the creative and innovative Radiohead. The second way is…

“Diskbox

THIS CONSISTS OF THE NEW ALBUM, IN RAINBOWS, ON CD
AND ON 2 X 12 INCH HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL RECORDS.
A SECOND, ENHANCED CD CONTAINS MORE NEW SONGS, ALONG WITH DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND ARTWORK.
THE DISCBOX ALSO INCLUDES ARTWORK AND LYRIC BOOKLETS.
ALL ARE ENCASED IN A HARDBACK BOOK AND SLIPCASE.

THE ALBUM DOWNLOAD AUTOMATICALLY COMES WITH THIS PACK.
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE FILE DIGITALLY FROM THE 10TH OCTOBER 2007.

DISCBOXES ARE BEING MADE TO ORDER AND ARE PRICED AT £40.00 INCLUDING POSTAGE.
SHIPPING WILL BEGIN ON OR BEFORE 3RD DECEMBER 2007.”

Very excited :) Nice to have Radiohead not on a label and doing what they want.

I just read about this, I’m so stoked. Unfortunately I never download because I don’t know how and have never learned, which is silly considering how much music I listen to. If I had an Ipod that would probably be different. But I digress, ever since seeing Radiohead live at Bonnaroo they have jumped to the top of my favorites, can’t wait to hear the new album. And make your own price? Ingenious or crazy? Only Radiohead. Peace brother.
