10 Days. Radiohead’s new album hit the stores (well their online store only) and it’s called In Rainbows. Although of many reports that news of their new album was a hoax, their website, radiohead.com and their blog, Dead Air Space, has links to buy the new album. I’ll probably preorder the album as they have quickly become one my favorite bands. Live and in studio they have some of the strongest performances
In an interesting turn is how the album is sold. From the In Rainbows website there are two ways to buy the album:
Download price is “Up to you” meaning you set the price, I would guess to make you think about what the music is worth to you. Interesting concept that could only be thought of by the creative and innovative Radiohead. The second way is…
“Diskbox

Very excited Nice to have Radiohead not on a label and doing what they want.
OK, I was watching Letterman last night and got to see something entirely gross. On “stupid human tricks” I guy actually drank a beer through his nose. ew. Here’s the guy doing it, though not on Letterman, but same guy doing the same thing.
The very eclectic Polyphonic Spree are set out for a tour this fall and I can’t be more excited. I’ve seen them twice live, once at Bonnaroo in 2003 and once again a few years ago in Columbus at The Newport for a low-dough show put on by CD 101. They are back with a new album The Fragile Army, a strong 3rd release that continues where The Beginning Stages Of… (2003) and Together We’re Heavy (2004) left off. Where are they playing, well sorry Columbus, the closest you get is Bogart’s in Cincinnati, but at least I’ll be able to see them at the venerable Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro. I’ll have to see if I can find a press pass for this so I can shoot, they do have the same publicist as Bonnaroo. They are touring with Rooney, supporting their album Calling the World.

Ok, this is the 5th year I’ve shot Bonnaroo. I threw together all of my photos from this year into one movie. This is everything unedited from 4 days of shooting. It includes out of focus, over/under exposed and bad shots as well as the good ones. It’s fun though, I think.
TMBG newest video ‘The Shadow Government” video. It looks to be a commentary of the state of the government at this point, beautifully directed and the artwork is creative and original.
for the Cloud Cult show at the Basement this past Monday, through the wonderful website donewaiting.com. I got the email the afternoon of the show informing me that I had won the tickets. I thought cool. I didn’t know too much about the band at the time. I’m sure I have a tune or two of their’s hidden somewhere in my computer but I opted to skip the show for a couple of reasons. My transportation right now is very unstable. My lil’ Honda is 17 years old, slowly dying and doesn’t like hills right now, which makes driving around town very tricky and extremely nerve-wracking. Secondly, the show was the night before an interview for a promotion, and I wanted to prepare that evening for the interview.
Well late Monday night, I thought to myself, let me check out this band Cloud Cult to see what I missed, and to my surprise I’ve liked everything I have heard. I cannot download enough of their music. Now I am kicking myself for missing what could have been a great show.
Here’s their new video for Chemicals Collide.
A live performance of Pretty Voice for The Current.
Ok, with all the hype around The National these days, I have to put up a video of theirs. I shot them at Bonnaroo, though I need to add in a few more images to the gallery. Video is pretty cool, check it out.
If you missed all the news at Apple this week, they announced new iPods. Since I just recently got a new Nano, they had to go and update them. Now all iPods play video, the Nano is now shorter, though wider, prob so the could get a wider screen on it. They also brought out the iPodtouch, alot like the iPhone, without the “phone” part. the Touch also has a web browser and can connect to Wi-fi, fairly cool, though it only comes in 8Gb and 16Gb, kinda a step backwards, though they are basing the memory on flash memory, much like a card you put in your camera, more curable, no moving parts to break, better battery life. I’m sure in a year technology will catch up and we’ll have 32GB and 64GB. the “classic” now has up to 160gb. nice.
Biggest deal about the announcement….they dropped the 4GB iPhone all together and dropped the price of the 8GB $200. Better price point for new owners and also pissing off alot of early adopters. Steve Jobs as in-turn gave everyone who bought them early a $100 gift card to the Apple store. I’ll give him credit, he didn’t have to, but I think it goes a long way to show some appreciation to his customers.
So I found a cool thing about iTunes, it’s My iTunes. I can place my favorite music from what I play on iTunes (all day) and it places it in the little box on the right nav. Kinda cool.
