Sousaphone Hero

Ok, I spent time in two marching bands, fairly damn good ones at that. High school marching band is one thing, but being in the Ohio State Marching Band is 100% more work and so much better because of it, that and you are playing for Ohio State. Since I was in the percussion section we naturally mad fun of the, for the most part, quite large sousaphone section. Yes, probably 80% of the section looked similar to the illustration above, sans mustache/side burn thing. Call it friendly making fun, but hey, they dotted the “i” in Script Ohio, but I wouldn’t trade being first on the field for pre-game and having 90,000+ people explode into cheer when you come out of a little tunnel.

Anyway, The Onion put an article today that reminded me alot of how we made fun of the sousaphones back in the day and there actually is a drumming video game that is popular. Check it out, damn funny.
