Ok, sorry to be pretty much only posting on Bonnaroo lately, but it’s T-Minus 9 days before we leave and I have to be ready. So, I’ll try to impose my experience on others. What do I need to bring. Now it’s going to be a little different as I’m covering the show, taking lots of photos and this year, video. Very nice to have a few contacts
Well, here’s a list of what I need, check out Holly’s list as well.
-Sleeping Tent
-Shade Tent (more important then you think)
-Power Inverter (charging things like cell phone, camera and laptop batteries)
-water, lots of it and bottles to carry and drink it from
-coolers, Ice
-Chair for the site
-Sun Screen, again, don’t want to walk around in pain
-Tarp, good for shade and cover if it rains
-Pain killers, like Advil (damn druggies;) )
-Army cot, being off the ground will be wonderful, cooler and more comfy
-food, things that won’t go bad, including my GranolaRoo Mix I bring every year (granola, dried cranberries, M&Ms, peanuts) Peanut butter, Jelly, bread and/or bagels, etc.
-spray bottle w/fan if you can find one
-Clothing: The right kind of underwear (more important for men. I got sports briefs last year, greatest thing I ever did. Nothing like being in hot weather, sweating, and walking alot, it can be painful for a guy, no matter how much Gold Bond you bring). Hiking boots and sandals, only shoes I bring. Socks, extra t-shirts, no one wants to smell you that much…..dirty hippie. Oh, I did come to the conclusion 3 years ago that at a festival like this hippies in general become too much like white trash by Sunday with the lack of sleep, no showers and too many intoxicants, so bring some damn soap. Anyway, shorts, a hat and one zip-locked change of clothing for the ride home. Oh and this year I’m bringing Hawaiian shirts from the thrift store for during the day, you know, just for the fun of it.
-Camera gear: Canon 1d Mark II, Canon 20d, Canon XL1s w/16x lens (video), rain covering, Think Tank belt system, 70-200 f2.8 IS, 24-70 f2.8, 16-35 f2.8, 50 f1.4, 300 f2.8, Canon 1.4 Extender, Epson p-2000 40gb portable storage, 17GB in CF cards, 12 hours of MiniDv tapes, Mac Laptop, 60GB Fitelite drive, chargers for all these. No flash, your not aloud to use it, why bring the extra weight.

I really could have done without reading about your underwear choices and chaffing issues. Thank you for that visual that will be seared into my brain until I die. Sounds like you are going on a military campaign, not a concert. Sounds like fun though. However, I am of the mind of Ron White. When one of his fans said that he camped outside for three nights waiting for Garth Brooks tickets to go on sale, Ron repliedthat he wouldn’t camp outside for three nights if he were…..camping. Not my cup of tea. Give me a camper with all the comforts of home anyday.
Thanks for the shout out and I have to agree on the soap. They have washing stations throughout the campsite and you can actually clean up pretty well here. I’m bringing Knotty Boy Dread Soap, because you can wash everything with it, hair, body, even dishes at camp if need be, it’s all natural and smells like grass. The kind that grows in your yard.
I gotta stay loyal to the ol’ Dr. Bronners. Get the mint variety and you’ll stay cool and tingley.
