made a new video of me and the same time lapse style video taken with my still camera and put together with final cut. i think my technique is getting better, now i just need a real storyline. this one i played with multiple shots, maybe my next one i’ll put together a story board ahead of time and put some thought into what is going on with the video. also have some ideas about keeping the camera in one place and moving the light source around.

So The Flaming Lips album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, is being turned into a Broadway musical. I have to say this has to be one of the most entertaining things I’ve heard in a while. Love the album, I can’t wait to see Yoshimi battling pink robots with lazer beams and smoke. I mean the album cover just about already looks like a musical.

The Lips will of course will be back at Bonnaroo this year. I’m pumped I saw them there and really wasn’t into them until I saw them live, great show. What’s better then giant stuffed animal costumes, huge balloons, and an atmosphere they tried to make as much like a 6 year old’s birthday party.

ok, i have to say i love modest mouse, their new album We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank is really fairly strong. maybe doesn’t rock quite as much as some of their previous releases, but lyrically and musically it’s top notch. Maybe Johnny Marr, former guitarist of The Smiths just adds quite a bit. He defiantly makes an impact. Anyway, their first single and probably one of the strongest songs on the album, Dashboard has a new video. I bit odd, but fun creative. give it a listen/watch.

So I really can’t wait for the new Wilco album. it’s released on may 15 and it already sounds like it will be great. you can listen to a track or 2 over on their website to get a taste. I shot them in 2004 at Bonnaroo and you can see my photos here. I’m excited because they will be back again this year, I’m sure showcasing their new album. I’m hoping to be shooting again and get some better shots of them this time around.

Kings of Leon, another band I’ve shot at Bonnaroo new album, Because of the Times, will be out on April 3. To promo this album they will also be on David Letterman tonight performing their new single, “On Call.” I might just have to check it out tonight, they have always been great rockers and put on an incredible live show. For those of you in Cbus they are playing the Newport on June 13 (presale 3/24) and then they hit up Bonnaroo again on June 16.

Need I say more?

So last night Gretchen and I decided to actually leave the house and go see some music. The Pour House is a great local bar in downtown Raleigh. I mostly wanted to see Gambling the Muse as I had found them yesterday on Myspace as a local band. They had a great sound. Folksy, acoustic, great lyrics and sound. you can hear them at their Myspace page or their website, gamblingthemuse.com. Give them a listen.

The 2nd and headliner of the night was Downtown Senate. Bit more up tempo. Good soild band, and defiantly let me know I was now in the southern music scene. I guess as a headliner I was expecting more, though it was a Wednesday night. I thin kI would have reversed the lineup and had Gambling the Muse be the headline, but that’s just me. Though I don’t want to take anything away from Downtown Senate, they where soild, great band, I think that they missed that something extra.
